How do you evaluate a company that builds AI agents or automation?
Ask what the system actually does
A credible provider can explain, in plain terms, what the agent does, which tools it uses, where a person stays in control, and what happens when it fails. Vague claims about intelligence, with no detail on limits or failure handling, are a reason to ask more questions.
Look at handling of data and errors
Ask where data goes, how it is stored, and how mistakes are caught and corrected. How a provider describes its guardrails and logging says more about reliability than a polished demo does.
Prefer a small paid pilot
A short, measured pilot on a real task reveals more than a sales pitch. Agree in advance on what success looks like and how it will be measured, so the result is clear to both sides.
